Suzhou Sailing and Boating

On Dianshan Hu, there is the Shanghai Boat and Yacht Club. Individual membership is 2,800 RMB / year and includes use of the club boats at no additional cost. They share space with Shanghai Yacht Club and Resort which additionally offers wakeboarding.

On Taihu, there is Mercury Club and Marina which has a wide selection of motor boats available for rent. Membership is a good bit more expensive but it's possible to rent boats without being a member.

Hi All

No I am not in Suzhou but Shanghai, bit of a rapid change. I am really interested in sailing and canoeing (and hill walking). Currently I am only on contract for another 3 months so I cannot really join any '1 year' groups' but if anyone has other options or wants some company canoeing etc........

Hi Sarah, I think it is no longer possible renting kayak on jinji lake.
There was a club before (close to the attraction park) but they closed door.

I don't think there are any kayak rentals at Jinjihu but I there should be some at Taihu.  At Dianshanhu, I know that SYCR ( membership includes kayak use.   I've got an inflatable one that I traded with another yacht club member, happy to lend it to you sometime or go out together if you like.

Hey there, does anyone know if it's possible to rent a kayak in Suzhou? (both jinji and taihu lake sounds fine to me)?
Otherwise i'm gonna buy a kayak on my own and use it in weekends, anyone got some tip?

Hi all.

Family with some dinghy experience and a bit of bigger boat stuff.

Interested in dinghies, sailing, canoes and anything else that floats (or almost floats thinking of some stuff I have sailed!)

Have contacted the SBYC and will start there but any other ideas welcome!!

I'm not sure on Dushu but I'm pretty sure it's allowed in Jinjihu.

Greetz... Quick note to provide some update on Shanghai Boat & Yacht Club on Dianshan Lake... Individual memberships are now 5,000 RMB/year and family is 8,000 RMB. Still a good deal vs renting each time if you plan to sail more than 20-30 hours a year...which I do plan on... They also have 2 restaurants, 1 western style, 1 Chinese, and varied accommodationnchoices from camping to small log cabins to 2 large 5 bedroom villas that can accommodate up to 12 guests. I plan to organize a few get togethers here and there...some to just go out and sail for the day, and perhaps an overnite trip now and then as well... Its about 45 mins away from Suzhou, and likely 45-60 mins from Shanghai, so pretty convenient...
